God’s desire is to bring healing in every area of our lives. He creates places of rest and refreshment just for that purpose.
The story of the prophet Elijah is a great example of a person experiencing hardship and in need of refreshment. The battle Elijah was in seemed overwhelming. Notice that God did not leave Elijah sitting there. Instead, He supernaturally fed Elijah two times and sent him on a journey for forty days and nights to Mount Sinai.
There at the mountain God asked Elijah why he was running. Basically He asked Elijah to tell his story. From that exchange God spoke to Elijah in a personal way, showing His power through earthquakes, wind, and fire. But what caught Elijah’s heart was, “the sounds of a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave”. Is that not the case in all of our lives? When we hear the personal whisper of God, refreshment flows, and we are able to again hear His voice for the next steps.
As missionaries ourselves, with many years of combined experience living overseas we understand the importance of reflecting and connecting with the Father, taking time to hear His perspective on the past and His guidance for the future.
Because of the situations and personalities of our global workers we offer two types of debrief.
Our Radiant Life Retreat is a small group (5-8 adults) debrief and wellness experience for individuals, couples, or families. The Radiant Life Retreat is specifically designed for those who have lived cross-culturally for a year or more. It is offered multiple times a year and in different locations around the United States. (For more information see our retreat page.)
We also offer a more personal 5-day debrief for couples and singles as well as families. We understand that God has created each of us uniquely and that we all process differently. Many stressors are common to missionary families around the world, but we also understand some of our experiences are very unique and need to be processed in a more intimate setting. There is no scheduled times for these personal debriefs; they are done as the needs arise. If this type of debriefing fits your needs better please contact us and we can work with your schedule.
Both the RLR and the personal 5-day debrief include age-appropriate sessions for youth and children correlating with the same program in which the parents are participating.
