Born and raised in West Michigan, Randy spent two years at Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, Texas, followed by 14 months of friendship evangelism in Israel while living among a kibbutz community. Following his return to West Michigan., he studied at Kendall School of Design, then launched into business as the owner of Randy Johnson Photography. During 25 years of working with young brides and grooms to provide high quality wedding portraiture, he developed a desire to do more than meet the needs of a wedding day, but to have a greater impact in young couples’ marriages. This led him to take courses in marriage and family development through the American Association of Christian Counselors, using these tools to facilitate a series of premarital classes along with his wife, Lin. The two of them have completed a Member Care Foundations Course as of January, 2016 offered through YWAM. , Randy’s calm and accepting demeanor puts people at ease, making him a person with whom people feel comfortable sharing life’s struggles. Currently, his focus is on using his skill with the camera to provide photographs with which YWAM bases can update their websites, helping to further extend the impact of those bases. He also loves to provide missionaries with quality photos for themselves and for use in updating their support staff.
